You might have noticed my listing in the members market to sell the PC version of MW2.

Now rather than cluttering up that area, i thought this question might be best asked here (as maybe others are thinking the same thing):

Is it really true that if I registered and played MW2 on my PC via Steam (As all copies have to) that the game is then not able to be registered by someone else on another Steam account should I sell it?

I ask as I have seen copies on Ebay 2nd hand being sold and getting bids even though the seller has noted the game has been used.... also a known computer exchange will take and buy 2nd hand copies (presumably to sell on).

Do I need to do something to remove the game from my Steam account? Its uninstalled... should I do anything else?

Or are the sellers on Ebay leading people up the garden path?

It's registered to your Steam account - you can't remove it.

Some people create one account per game, so can effectively sell the account if they want to get rid of the game.

OK fair does - ill bin it then, what a waste of money - gutted tbh :(

Seems strange that a high street retailer is shifting them 2nd hand though, cheers for letting me know mate.

This is the same for all games you buy on Steam (except Valve games, where they're occasionally helpful in transferring), and games that require Steam like MW2, Empire (and Napoleon) Total War, Fear 2 etc.

If you don't like it, don't buy games you don't intend to keep forever on Steam, and read the warnings on the back of the case!

Personally it is the one thing that annoys me the most about pc gaming atm. I am not a rich man but like my games. On consoles I can buy a few good games. When i finish them i can trade them in and atleast get some money towards a new purchase. Now I got a decent PC again I have racked up quite a few games that I have finished but for one reason or another PC games are a pain to sell it seems. Either they are stuck on steam, locked in GFWL or have been registered to me online as it is needed to play them. It is far too much hastle. I tend now to only buy BIG games that I am very certain I will play loads or buy cheap steam offers like Phsychonauts for £1.00.

Its a shame if i could sell some of these games I would have some cash to consider buying a new one.
