Afternoon all.

So I am 23, 5 years license, 4 years no claims bonus. no long term history of driving performance cars (although have driven a handful of 200+BHP cars for short periods of time) and I am in the market for insuring my daily/project car.

Corsa C SRi with a Saab B204 conversion. 200bhp declared, Front mount, 19t Turbo, bigger breaks, 2.5 stainless exhaust, uprated suspension etc.

Best price ive got so far is £800 fully comp through Flux or HIC. I've tried Brentacre, Greenlight, Sky, Keith Michaels, Performance Direct, A-Plan etc.

Anyone suggest anyone else? Thanks.

Doesn't help I know, but £800 isn't that bad considering the premiums have gone up at 23 with no history of powerful cars. my Mk3 turbo Mx5 costs £510 to insure (Sky) and I have owned a good number of performance cars 9 years ncb and Im 29. (was the best quote I could find)

its not bad no - considering 2 years ago i insured a z20let combo van for 1300, I'm just a bit of a cheapskate and like to haggle insurance down as much as I can haha.
my old man is insured with admiral on his insignia estate, 52 6 years ncb 25+ license, the renewal came through for him at £900! after some arguing got that down to 480, still more haggling to do for him as competitors are offering him insurance for £400, but he prefers admiral as a long term customer.

I was just hoping to get it down to the £700 mark really, plus I'm no big fan of flux.

As above. 800 is really good for someone of your age!

I used to have a 2005 Corsa 1.8 Sri. And it cost me more than 2k to insure.... And it was completely standard.

Get your current insurers (of whatever you drive atm) to better the quote you have from Flux or state you will be taking your business for both daily and project elsewhere. Simples.

I'm 30 with 5 years no claims and paying not much less for a 230bhp fiesta. Modified cars are always expensive to run, get used to it.

You just need to go for something that's 20 years or older, then you can get it on a "classic" policy - at which point the price falls through the floor. With the right company (like Peter James) you have easy access to unlimited-mileage policies, business use options and the likes as well.
