Over the last couple of weeks i have been tweaking my Case to improve airflow as i felt this case lacks it!

My Spec in Sig was running tooo hot, with no modification to case i was getting arround 55 idle and 65+ full load!!

I decided this was a bit to toasty for my own good, and before i killed my cpu i had to cool the cpu better.

I am currently cooling my cpu with a Big Typhoon, i was gutted when my temps were this high as it was meant to be a great cooler, however to get the best out of this you need good airflow.

I started by swapping the rear fan with the asaka and adding the other fan to the front.

All well and good, however this only dropped temps by around 2 - 3 degrees, so i went about cutting out the HDD bay and relocating the HDD under abover the DVD drive by bungee cording it, making it nice and silent!

This decreased the temps by a fair bit, but i was still at around 48 idle and 60 load. Again still a bit toasty!

So i plucked up the courage and added a blow hole to the side of the case, and added an asaka amber to this.

With an asaka amber on the big typhoon and this new blow hole i am currently idling at 38 degrees with load only being 49.

WHAT A RESULT!

So from just a few tweaks i have managed to decrease temps by around 15 degrees!

Next i am tempted to do a bit of lapping!

Oh and a friend was giving away a blue cathode....

Enjoy :)

Sorry about pic quality, camera died on me so needed to use the phone!

nice mods, however i am a bit unsure about your hard disk, doesn't really look very secure, i'd be tempted to twist the elastic (like putting a pen in an elastic band and twisting it) so it has a better hold. also it can still be mounted in the hard drive rack. will post a pic of mine :)

tbh it seems perfectly fine, with it being behind the blanking plate there is no way it can be pulled / pushed out, unless the sata cables get caught.

Wouldnt mind getting another fan on the top of the case so it can blow the hot air out of the case, i think it would look pretty 'cool'

Interested to see how you have mounted your hard drive :)

mounted in the rack, had 2m of sewing elastic to use, didn't want to cut any. twisted round the drive 3 times and then just around the rack so its not hanging loose. not the cleanest job but it worked well, it is very annoying when a spinpoint is the loudest thing in your case due to resonating.

edit: i don't know how that elastic twist got in there!
