want it for gaming and the odd skype

i use a set of Berrydanamics DT 770 pro

not in a noisy place, could i get away with anything cheaper ?

I use a Trust GXT 258 Fyru from about a foot and a half away on my desk, absolutely no complaints for less than £20. I rate it more highly than my old Blue Yeti Snowball that cost me triple that.

Off the top of my head:
  • V Moda Boompro c.£30+ - will plug into some headphones with a 3.5mm jack or use an adaptor to do so.
  • Sahara Gaming Mics - again c.£30 - look like cheap clones of ModMics but review OK.
  • Cheap Lavlier mic - although they can be expensive too and you have to deal with the clip on mic and it picking up noise.

If you have the space you could go separate desk mic/boom arm - which will be better quality.

I bought the ModMic Uni (3.5mm version) a few years ago and it is a nice build quality and better mic than you get on any gaming headset. And the sticky pads/magnet system works very well. Although I do wish I'd have gone for the USB version and the extra cable does get annoying.

the V moda one i cant use as my cable is "attached"

mod mic at that price seemed like the best option for me
