Any recommendations between the two above. Will be using one with a pair of X1s and an STX. Both seem to get pretty good feedback but the V-Moda is a fair bit cheaper and I quite like the idea of a single cable but it's not a deal breaker.

Both have decent reviews. If you prefer the convenience of a single cable and find the ModMic to be a bit expensive then surely you answered your own question?

I use the v-moda with my x1s and it works well.

Music isn't as good as through my kabeldirekt cable. So I generally swap between them depending on whether I'm needing a mic or not, but that's the joy of a replaceable cable; I don't have to have the mic when I don't want it.

I have both so in a good position to help i hope!

I would pick the V-moda every time, having one wire to my x2's is a major benefit and the mod mic doesn't do anything better to justify having to run two wires - if anything i find the v-moda easier to position and of course you don't need to stick anything to your lovely headphones.

No doubting the modmic is a great device, very well made and maybe if using for anything above game chat would be a better mic but thats way above my use or ability to test!

I really didn't get on with the modmic & the AKG K712... Hated the extra wire that attached & its very stiff.

It didn't fold up very well as the design of the HP made it awkward & would snap back into place when my shoulder hit the cable.

If the X1's have a normal 3.5 jack get the V-moda & have one wire.
