Modmic + Xbox One Controller + PC?

I have the Xbox One wireless dongle for the PC and play games in another room on my TV, so having a mic isn't possible. If I bought a Modmic, could I just plug it into the controller and have it work that way, through the controller?

If the pad can natively send microphone input wirelessly, there's no reason a modmic wouldn't work. There's cheaper mic's around but... that could well be a nice setup.
