Modular is nice, but once you start adding other components it can get a bit messy.
My rig with a modular hx850w
Things werent too bad with a single gpu, once i added the second and a pcie souncard it got a bit messier round the psu section.
Single gpu with hx 850w
My old non modular unit with a single gpu
With the non modular toughpower i shoved some cables below the psu, or behind the motherboard, 24 pin atx was able to go behind the mobo tray, unlike my current hx850w.
Discussion is pointless really, nowadays you can get a modular PSU for the same price as a non-modular alternative. So the question really becomes 'why would you opt not to get a modular one?'.
