Just saw these guys play in Wolverhampton last night.
All I can say is wow...what a band.
Anyone go to this/seen them on this tour?

Yeah me, Sic and a couple of my mates saw them in a very crowded Bristol Academy, and they were awesome.

Only gripe I have was their set didn't seem too well thought out. I saw them at the same venue when they toured Happy Songs and it just seemed to flow a lot better, there was much more stopping and starting this time around and the songs didn't seem to gel as they did last time.

Still, they're one of the most intense live bands you'll see so always an experience to remember.

wayhay i was there too!

as Chris said...saw them in Brizzle on wednesday. i thought they gave a pretty lacklustre performance...didnt really seem into it until their penultimate song before the encore. just seemed to meander aimlessly then get some direction when it was almost too late. still the last 4 songs were pretty damn impressive, and they showed that when they want to, Mogwai can kick some ass when they want to, but i was very underwhelmed by the performance as a whole. i'd give them another go given the chance.

what did everyone (except music-fascist "Big Chris") think to the support? i believe their name was "The Magnificents"

Watch your mouth kid, I know where you live now.

I may be a fascist for the most part when it comes to music but they just weren't very good, and certainly weren't an obvious choice for a support band (although there were Scottish). The whole quirky Indie thing really doesn't do it for me, the guitar & drums were very generic and dull and the broken vocal style annoyed me more than anything.

heh, there's just no pleasing some people. it's nice to have a bit of variation in the night and considering that was only their second show on the tour i thought they did quite well. they had that whole joy division thing going on, and i'd much rather they supported than the killers or some diluted crap like that.

Yeah I s'pose, but then again we've been quite blessed when it comes to support bands of late have we not Mr Tandy?

I didn't think much of them either to be honest. It was all a bit samey...maybe they're different on record but I just don't think their songs worked well.
Plus, I don't know why but the singers movement/general demeanor reminded me of that old Russ Abbott Scottish character...that's probably just me tho :)

Kinda contradicting yourself a bit there, in a thread that you started!

I seen em at the start of the year in Belfast, they were supported by a band called the Errors. the gig venue they played was sooooo much better than the last time, i was just a tad dissapointed that they didnt play a couple of songs i liked.

Got tickets for the 28th in Edinburgh (day after my dissertation is in!), can't wait.

Friend of mine saw them last night in Cambridge, apparantly Like Herod is no longer on the setlist? Can anyone confirm this?
