Anyone know how to work around the error that gets thrown up saying that no us or uk version of the game has been found (when patching to 1.11)? Ive seen some guides saying to use a reg patch (and a guide to altering the reg), tried that with no luck, i installed it a while back with no probs now im just getting this error time time and time again stopping me from patching to play online :(

Does yours even start on Vista x64?

Tried it on W7 x64 and Spearhead just wouldn't run! :(

Went back to XP 32 :s

I can get into sp and multi but without the patch i cant play online. Spearhead from what ive read has its own share of probs with vista.

Just realised the version i was installing was already patched, ive the warchest version (which ive just discovered comes prepatched) and the regular original release :s

The only problem I've had in Vista 64 with MOHAA and expansions is that setting the screen refresh rate in the config seems to reset the graphics options in-game. That and finding populated servers that aren't heavily modded. :o

EDIT: I think that they must have put the 1.11 patch into CD releases early on, because I didn't need to patch my non-warchest version either.

My versions from june 02 (game was released that jan) and no patches just version 1.0. Warchest on as said comes with the latest. Funny thing was there was initially 3 patches for this game, 1.10 1.11 and one inbetween those that caused havoc on omaha, higgins boats flew etc so was scrapped pretty quickly.

Sad the way the game just deteoriated though, 2 proper patches and left to the hackers, supposodly 2015 wanted more say in the expansion and next game if there was one, ea said screw you and refused to let them support it. Its probably the best example of a fairly recent big name game with no authentication, id imagine sales suffered because of that, 1 cd key with hundreds using it online with no probs.

I agree about the servers, its either that ckr "realism mod" where the mg's become deadly accurate from insane distances, freeze tag (yawn) or that other weird mod where you seem to have every sp weapon and the maps have random vehicles and crates scattered about it.

Its the kinda game id love to see a remake of, with the original team behind it if possible, not likely though as a good few of those went and formed infinity ward and are the makers of call of duty. :(

Runs fine for me in vista X64, though you may need to enable the extension limit in nvidia control panel for openGL... Without it, it may crash after loading the map.

ATi Card here. 4870.

Im going to go back to W7 later this year on my Mac Pro and see if it will run then.

I might just make a XP partition and be done with it *shrug*

Freeze Tag is amazinggg :) Loved this game so much, are there still a large base of players?

Large enough. I play Spearhead or Breakthrough almost every day since they hit the shops and there is no shortage of servers. Some are modded. silly even but there is a substantial hardcore that keep it going.

Looking at the grief some folks get with older games and Vista has convinced me to keep a single core pc going with XP pro.
