Hi all,

Right just reordered my room and during the move i seem to have stoped my X2 detecting one of my monitors. Its not a monitor issue as which ever one i plug into the first connection of the X2 works fine.

I also tried using the vga input with a dvi adapter on the second connection and that showed up correctly which leads me to belive its a software issue but nothing has changed software wise during the move

i have tried full reboots and restarts, no luck

anyone have any suggestions?

thx for the response, I didn't actually move the tower, just the monitors (unplugged from tower.

the really confusing thing it that on vga to div adapter it works fine

any other suggestions, really miss my second screen

not sure (mainly cos i don't know the wiring differences) but possibly a dodgy vga connection on the card ?

do all the pins look ok on the connector ?

does the gfx card have 2 vga connections / 1 vga 1 dvi etc , managed to try a different monitor lead ?

both are DVI, will check the pins when i get home.

cable is fine becuase no matter which monitor I plug into the first connection it works. I really hope the gfx card isn't broken

yeah it is sounding like loose connection port maybe, its possible that using the adapter makes it fit in different way and therefore makes proper contact, but without it the contacts not there. Cant really think of anything else it might be tbh

Cheers for the suggestions guys, still no solution

gonna bump this one last time to get the guys comming home from work, if there are no more suggestions i guess im going to have to replace the card :(

is the 4870 X2 still the best ati card around?

Okay I reseated my card, comp some how cmos'd while in the process so I lost my clock... fantastic... luckily it was stored in on of the OC profiles so thats back and running. No change on the monitor front.

So, I gave up and thought well why dont i just use VGA for my second monitor, no biggy right? plug it in for some reason windows and Cat won't let me set the res to 1920 x 1200

Anyone got any suggestions for that one?

UPDATE : i dont want you to all lose sleep on this so i thouhght i would update you. After messing around with settings i managed to find out how to force 1920 x 1200 although its not the best picture in the world it will do for now... i really can't afford another x2 right now

Is this one not under warranty? they havent been out that long
Re VGA res, VGA is quite low quality and doesnt transmit much data, its only intended for 640x480
