Molex Case Fans

Just rebuilt my PC using a XION II Black gaming case which has three fans, one front, one on the clear side and one at the rear.

Problem is these are connected direct to the PSU via Molex, not via the fan controller on the mobo with the result that they spin at full speed with no means of slowing them down. Quite noisy too.

Is there any sort of adaptor I can purchase which I can place in the circuit or connect via the mobo controlled case fan connection to quiten things down a bit.

Or is it my fault for buying a cheap and nasty case?!

Hmm, good point. Shouldnt be able to daisychain them really. That might be why one I plugged in died. Melted all the plastic on the cables, but mobo was fine.

Could do the trick. I wonder how many fans the power supply from three pin would drive without an overload though? I assume the rear would be fine. maybe the front (and I can probably live without the side fan).
As regards not connecting anything else to it, a little NO! label on the Molex or some form of "collar" would prevent that.

I found molex fans in my Thermaltake case and changed them to PWM fans. There are sites that show you how to rewire molex for reduced voltage but I coudnt be bothered.

Check motherboard's manual.
It generally tells how much limit is for that particular motherboard.

According to the P5 manual, the CPU, chassis and PWR fan support cooling fans of 350mA~2000mA (24 W max) or a total of 1Amp~7Amp (84watt max) at +12v.

I will need to try and find out what the case fans are rated at plus of course the AC7. The supplier site I purchased from doesn't mention the fan power rating just that it's 2 x 12cm fans and 1 x 8cm fan.
