Molex Connections

A 4 pin molex connector,gives 0v, 12v and 7v and 5v? Which pins are which? Anyone got a diagram? Yes i know i could stick a multi meter on end but dont want to blow the meter if i get it wrong.

Standard molexes only give +5V (red) or +12V (yellow), the other two black wires are grounds.

Yeah, it's +5V Red and +12V on the yellow. If you run a fan between the +5 and the +12 then you have a 'potential difference' of +7 which is where you get the 7v (middle speed) from.

should be but you could always swap the 12 and 5 and run them at 7v

when you say swap them is it as simple as just changing which bit of the molex they go into?

Sorry, never looked into volt modding fans before and cba to google

Im going to do this at weekend, I presume I have to cut the cable and put in in small 5amp connector blocks, or is there an easier way?

Yes, they hardly need anything to start.

Take the molex pin out and swap it with the one you want. No need to cut anything.
