Ahoy hoy

When using a Mondeo with a tiptronic gearbox and manual mode, how close to a legitimate manual gearbox is the performance?

Any light shed is appreciated!

What year Mondeo?

I had a 2011 estate auto, it was awful.

Unless you enjoy shouting "GO!" or "Change FFS!" at your car.

I'm about as far from a car expert as humanly possible but have recently had a 2012 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Auto as courtesy car and honestly the gear box is rage inducing, its truly bloody god awful.

Whoever decided that it was suitable for all round decent family mile muncher should be sacked and forced to live with that gearbox until the end of time.

You can get a modern powershift gearbox from 2010-2011 onwards but they cost £10k+ for a good example.

2001-2004? They are a god-awful, torque converter 4-speed box. Performance won't be anywhere near the manual.

Ford autos are awful which is a shame because I love Fords and I'd love an auto as my next car. For example, they use the same awful, 4-speed slush box on the 1.4 Fiesta Titanium (2008+ model). That's insanity putting that kind of 'box on a 1.4 with 96bhp. I had a Focus 1.6 Auto for a while (same 4-speed box) and that really, really struggled. Got rid after a couple of months.
