Wasn't sure whether to put this in sound, or in here but I think it is more fitting in here.

Anyway, I have just bought a mondeo and in the glove box there is an aux connection, I have been connecting my phone to this for music.

This works fine, but there just isn't that much volume, even with the phone and the stereo on max.

What I'd like to know is, is there some sort of in line amp I could use, like the fiio headphone amps, powered by the cigarette lighter for some more volume.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a dodgy connection. Could be the AUX cable or the connection in the glove box. The port can become damaged when people ram stuff in there with the cable still in.

I don't know, it doesn't sound crackly or anything as if there is a loose connection, quality is fine it just doesn't go loud enough.

I mean it's not quiet or anything, but I'd like it louder.

I think it's more to do with the volume the bb is ouputting at.

Yeah I've had it before, just really really quiet. Try a new cable, if you have no joy with that try dropping the glove box, there's another AUX port that the glove box connects to, less likely to be damaged. Could also try turning the AUX cable round in the socket 360 degrees very slowly ensuring it's seated properly, if it goes loud then quiet or even off it's a connection problem

Could also ensure that the Stereo is loud enough on the Radio to rule out broken speakers or dodgy config. Also that there's no limiter on your phone.

The stereo on radio or CD mode is fine and is loud, so it's definitely either the aux input itself or it's the fact my phone is outputting it really quietly.

Try a different device, I know my phone (iPhone) worked fine and at normal volumes but when my friend plugged his in (Android) the volume was really low as you describe.

I find that the iPhone very quiet, but the mp3 player (Creative Zen) is perfectly fine at louder levels (20/25) on a normal stereo setting (about 1/4 - 1/3 on the volume scale). I think it's a fairly quiet input, so you'll need a device which has a more appreciable output.

Would what I was thinking work though, maybe a fio to boost the volume a bit? All it does is boost the volume afaik so I can't see there being an issue, even if it is supposed to be for headphones.

If I have the wrong end of the stick, I am happy to be corrected.
