Mondeo ST24 vs. ST200

ST200 has the following features over the ST24:

a) Unique Imperial Blue paintwork
b) Twin exit exhuast
c) Additional 35bhp
d) Different suspension compents, ARB's, etc etc.
e) On Aug 99 models onwards, full leather Recaros
f) Semi Automatic Temperature Control
g) A signficant price premium - they are up to twice the price.

If you wish to kev it up, get an ST24. If you respect excellent looking standard cars, get the 200.

All have blue insert on dash, dash itself is not blue.

There is an ST200 Limited, these are a limited production run, are Saloons only, and have a numbered plaque and blue inserts on the Recaros.

I think i've seen the limited on eBay a couple of times, do they have the blue inserts on the steering wheel too?

Imperial Blue certainly is a great colour, i alwasy wanted a Fiesta Zetec-S in one when i had my 1.25i.

I certainly have every intention of keeping the car as close to standard as possible, apart from changing the wheels if it has the "Fox Special" 4 spokes ;)

The saloons also have heated front seats, starting to get handy now, and carry their own price premium over the hatchbacks. As far as I can tell, the limited badging was a dealer fit option, mine doesn't have it. The blue dash inserts are only on the saloons, (dark grey on the hatchbacks) and there is a bit of blue leather on the steering wheel.

And damn nice wheels they are too. (the multis)

I strongly disagree. I can't put my finger on it but they look horribly generic and nasty. This is odd becuase they are very similar in design to the ST170 alloys which I think look fantastic. There just seems to be no design flair to them. Just.. flat spokes. Yay.

I'm also guessing the upping of power, and rarer interior/exterior parts led to a higher insurance grouping too?

difference between st200 engine and normal v6 is

extrude honed upper inlet manifold, larger bore lower inlet manifold, larger bore throttle body, extrude honed inlet ports on heads, different cams, larger injectors, different ECU map, higher compression ratio and twin exit low back pressure exhaust system :)

suspension changes where lower and stiffer shocks and springs and different front wishbone design ARBs are the same afaik

I think it's also a CAT1 alarm/immobiliser on the ST200 as opposed to a CAT2 immobiliser on the rest of the Mondeos too.

Actually, I found a Ford Technical Service Bulletin dedicated to the ST200's introduction, summary:
Ford said:
