I have a chance to purchase one of these tomorrow hopefully, just would like to know if there's anything potentially dodgy to look out for?

It's a saloon (which I prefer anyway), R reg, 99000 miles. Got a seat needs a bit of stitching, broken door handle, aftermarket alloys (of which one is missing!)

According to my dad (who's a mechanic), he's never worked on one but has heard they can suffer from porous heads, also I think I heard that they can have waterpump problems? Only thing that might put me off is the way everything looks a bit packed in under the bonnet (as it'll be my dad and I who'll do anything that needs doing).
Is there anything else i'm missing?
If it's a good one i'll stick the RSAP kit on it that I was going to stick on my 2.0 Si, should look good. :)

Cheers

The heads go because of the water pumps, I think a upgraded one is only about £60 though which would be worth doing if you get it to be on the safe side .
Ah, is this where one has plastic fins and one has metal fins? It'll only cost me the price of the parts as i'll be doing it myself :)

Yup, the older waterpumps have plastic impellor blades which become brittle with old age and can deteriorate, meaning they fail to pump enough water around the system, leading to overheating of the engine.

It is this overheating that leads to the HG problems.
Ok, thanks. :)

I presume they have a good range of extras, don't some have ESP or traction control? I suppose some things are always optional, but is there a page I can look at which'll show me what should come as standard?

All V6's have traction control. The ST24 does not have a good range of extras - you will get electric windows, TCS, AC, heated front screen/mirros and remote locking/electric mirrors and thats about it.

Don't pay more than £1500.
Ok thanks TWFox. That's about all i'm worried about really anyway, anything on top of that woul've just been a bonus. As it happens he wants to swap it for a car we have for sale at work for about £1000 (as he says he can't afford to run it and the car he wants to swap it for is a turbo diesel), so it's probably not a bad deal?
