Let's hope it lasts longer than 5 months this time! Identical to my old one. I took the innard & visor from the old one, so have a brand spanky new innard and light+dark visor waiting for me when these need replacing, plus I have a pinlock for the dark one now which is nice.

Also got the ear pad inserts. Tried them on the way home and I was like "these aren't any quieter". Got home, front vents open... :p

Very pleased. Looks so nice and shiny! :D

XR-1100 :)

All the accessories for it say Qwest/XR-1100 so must be very similar helmets. They're really nice and light.

Nice! I was literally about to buy one the other day from sportsbikeshop as they do a nice deal with them, but where did you get your visor from?
The "dark tint" on their website doesn't look as dark as the one in your pic! :p

please correct me by all means as I don't pretend to be an expert on the subject but I was under the impression heavily tinted visors were illegal?

They are to a degree, not all, but some.

I had a complete mirror visor for an entire summer, looked cool. But totally illegal. It looked amazing... Actually, now spring is coming, might put it back on.

A light tint are the only ones that are legal, easiest thing I find is to just stick in a black pinlock, saves hassle from the police and you can swap it out if it gets dark.

I am getting paid out for mine also so will have something shiny soon too :D

Get your whole kit replaced if you can. I got 1k for my kit replacement as I didnt trust it to be crashed again and not cause me injury ;)

I've not bought a new helmet in about a year, got 4, and this thread makes me want a new one. New boots first though....

Got mine from sportsbikeshop, that is the dark tint visor (it does look much lighter on the site). Also got a free beanie with it :D

Meh :p

Carry a clear visor with you and don't use it at silly times (i.e. when it's about to rain, dull days, night time/evenings).

Still battling the 3rd party for my lid costs, after the off in November!!
After all they're shelling out, they're quibbling over a few hundred quid...

Liability is still being fought over my accident (apparently), yet the third party insurer has already sent me my helmet cheque (which cleared the day after) and have authorised repair on my bike. Not sure if it's because they don't have a case against me, or if they have actually accepted liability but not yet signed the papers to say they have...

It's been just over two months now. Looks like I've been lucky with the time it has taken. Surely if they're paying out for my helmet I should actually see my Hornet soon :D

Lovely looking lids those, just a shame they dont come with a internal visor number one feature for me now these days. Sod carrying a spare one around, unless some funky manufacture uses some of that above that back wheel to make a nice compartment for one.

Yep that's the only thing I miss. My old cheap Box helmet had a visor which I took for granted.

I've had that lid for a couple of years now and it's still in great condition. I do find it noisy, but the airflow is worth it.

Aye theyll do that! I had the exact same thing trying to get my policy refunded from MCE. They wouldnt back date the refund until liability was settled even though theyd paid out my full bike costs and was just waiting for kit/injury. I ended up posting a nasty on their facebook page and got a few mates to share and comment and I was refunded within 24hours..... !

I'm not seeing a problem there. There's just some sort of yellow sticker, probably to protect the visor in the box, that you need to take off.

:p

Damn right lol. Its my race helmet anyway so doesnt matter. The whole bike is stamped with "Not road legal" lol

Did you get your bike back even before liability had been settled? Really hoping mine comes back soon, poor thing is missing the first days of decent weather.

Mine was never taken away. It was written off by an assessor who came to my house. My case was very clear cut with 2 witnessess and a police report. The SMIDSY drivers insurance never once admitted in text about liability which apparently is pretty common. Made a real mess of getting my own insurance policy refund backdated.

Insurance sold it back to me for £650 and I sold it on as I also received full market value back for it. Think its now a track bike too.

Got a call today to say I'll be getting my bike back on Saturday. Can't wait :D

Not sure what's going on with liability at the moment, my insurance company have assured me multiple times that they don't think it'll be a problem as the pictures are clear as to whose fault it was. We'll see though. I'm just glad to have my bike back and can leisurely deal with insurance now :)

The third party insurer have been pretty quick to pay out, so I still think they have accepted liability but haven't given it in writing. I hate all this legal stuff.

I still don't understand the whole selling it back to you thing if it's written off, especially in your case. They didn't store it, they didn't transport it. Is it purely because they've paid you in full for a replacement and so the written off bike is no longer your property? Sounds like a nice little money maker for them.
