Hey,

Well my 8800gt is coming tomorrow, and im also thinking of upgrading my motherboard and maybe a new Q6600 G0.

But im not sure which motherboard to upgrade too. Some of the x38 boards look nice but they are expensive.

*Looks at the asus maximus boards thinking should i ?*

Not been in the motherboard market for awhile and i dunno which ones are the bees knees.

Money shouldnt be a problem, with the money raised from my other stuff il be selling i should get a decent amount.

Also how decent are the Q6600's to overclock ? I hope my Noctua cooler can cut the mustard.. O and also the new motherboard needs to be able to fit a Noctua NF-U12F :p

Hmm il take a read though that now. Thanks

Another thing, should i get a Q6600 now ? Or try and a attempt to "wait" for Penyrn :p

Q6600 buy now penryn only shows a 7percent increase over the Q6600. The only difference will be 45nm and bigger cache depending which model but still 4 cores.

The asus boards will support 45nm as well, so you wont loose out regarding future proof.

Personally i would still purchase the Q6000 (GO) stepping

Those benchies show a Q6600@Stock VS the £650 QX9650 OC'd to 4.0Ghz....not really fair when you consider the Q6600 can hit 3.6Ghz on a decent air cooler, and is 4 x cheaper!
