Money trouble

Bit £18k ? what about that Fiat Punto of yours?

Don't think he ever bought it in the end, he had a Polo or something thats been modded a lot. The punto would have been on finance too though! So that would be like £27,000 odd worth of debt?

I suspect the fact you made 5 applications for credit in short succession didn't help.

I applied for one loan about 5 months ago, another one 3 months ago and then the other 3 all at the same time recently. Weird :(

You haven't seen his car have you :( I'm assuming thats where a large chunk of the money went right? On modding that Polo or Lupo or whatever it is?

Yep, I have seen it. I doubt he's even spent 5k modding it. If he has spent most of his money modding the car, then where the hell has it gone? A bit of window tint, green cathodes and ice does not equal £5000.

Hell, all the stuff I've done to my car hasn't even set me back a grand... including the car, lol.

So with the increased interest rates now, does that make it even worse?

The interest repayments on you debt / loan etc?

I really feel bad for you, because dept makes me feel sick to my stomach, and I only owe £1000.
Ever since I had you on my MSN list, your sign in name/message pretty much on a weekly basis changed from "Spec my a....." or "Help me choose between....." etc from rollerblades to Car Amps, from New Mobile Phone to new watches
You seemed to be buying all sorts of rubbish constantly, and when recently you asked me if I wanted to buy some stuff you had for sale, you mentioned in the conversation that you were selling your stuff, so you can get better stuff.

I'm sure if you open your eyes, you would find that you have an awful lot of things, that you would be able to resell and recoup some money.

Also, I'm no psychologist but it does seem like you are buying things to make you feel better... fill a gap or whatever. Just looking at your previous posts, it's either about your rubbish life, terrible relationship with your dad, or about buying something.
Maybe it's a good idea to see someone, in a professional capacity

Hmm, I noticed the same thing.

Aruffel - to be honest, you need to get a grip of your finances. You need to realise that you don't need all this stuff. You also need to consider that you might be addicted to buying. Only then will an attempt to pay off your debt be worthwhile. I really do feel for you - it must be awful to owe that much money.:(

Good luck :)

C.A.B can and will help you for free mate.

My dad use to work for them, seen a lot of people in more debt than you, 1st thing is not to panic, its sortable, but your life will have to change a bit to pay it off.

Give them a ring, go see them and be honest.

Colin

good luck.

I spent a bit on my car, lent my brother some who was in worse state than i am lol

Rest of it i have pretty much ****** away :( food/booze/clothes

Spent about £400 a month in food :(

Probably more actually :o

I'm not £18k in debt

Only £10k with the loan, the £8k was my own money

The loan is 6.9% fixed, so not terrible :)

That's not so bad then. What you need to to is work out exactly how much you need to pay out each month and work out exactly what you have coming in. I have a spreadsheet which I designed to do this and whilst fairly simple it shows my ins and outs and I'll know whether or not I have spare cash for the month.
If you have more going out than you have coming in, you need to cut down on your outgoings. Set yourself a budget per week. Give yourself £50 for the week, cash in hand. That £50 should cover all your food and any groceries you need among other general stuff. If you have it in cash you can see it go and once it's gone you can't buy anything else. It's all too easy to stick it on the card and forget about it. Work in cash and you'll notice a difference straight away.

If you have cut down on all your outgoings and luxuries and there still isn't enough coming in to cover it all, you'll have to increase your income. Either get a better job, do more overtime or get a second part time job. It mightn't sound too attractive but all you have to do is stick it out until your debt is paid.

Work hard, make sacrafices and be careful with your money and you will come out OK. It's very a very simple principle (bring more in than you spend) but it takes hard work to change your lifestyle to meet it.

It can be done, it's all down to you now though.

I dont understand where you are in trouble?

other than the stupid spends you have a job and just a poxy loan with easy payments

im 5k debt now on the dole and until the CAB gets my plans sorted im missing every single payment and its getting worse.

You are in more debt than me yeah, but its managable

Im just afraid of missing a payment :( i've never missed a payment on anything.

Make it your goal not to miss one. When you get your pay, set aside your direct debits and don't touch that money. To hell with the Rockafeller lifestyle, sacrifice the luxuries and pay your bills. It's easily done, you just need to have some self discipline and make do with what you can afford.

E.g. don't fit a racing clutch to your Lupo. Put a normal clutch on it and drive the car with a bit of compassion, saving yourself money on fuel and maintenance. Modifying a car like that is dead money, anything you put into it will show no return in the overall value.

If you work hard at it you have nothing to worry about.

Can you extend your overdraft? this will give you some breathing space, as you can be in control, you just need time... (?)

I have 2 current accounts with 2 interest free overdrafts, not that I use them..

How can i source some money until i get paid, and what other advice have you guys got?

Sorry to be a **** but just don't spend money you don't have. You can't really go wrong if you do that.

I dont get this, why do people get them selfs in such a mess and spend 10k of some one elses money then O NO IM SCREWED. Dont take it personally but it is your own fault and now you have learnt a lesson. Dont spend what you dont have :)

Didn't we tell you all this when you went through the farce of almost spending £10,000 on a brand new Punto, and you told us all you didnt care and it wasn't anything to do with us?

You poured scorn on peoples financial advise then, yet expect help now?
