I'm after your help here guys, does anybody have any decent sound clips and/or videos of a 2.0l 3S-GE MR2 with either a mongoose or a blueflame exhaust?

I'm looking to replace my standard exhaust for aesthetic reasons and also to introduce a bit of burble at low revs. Currently the open cone filter sounds great when you put your foot down, but I want something that sounds slightly fruitier even when I'm not hooning.

However as the car is my daily driver I don't want something that's going to become intrusive on motorway journeys and I've heard mixed reviews about the mongoose being slightly droney. I've heard a full de-cat system and it's far too loud for my liking so I would keep the cat in place and just have the backbox.

I've asked on the MR2 owners clubs too, but nobody seems to have a decent clip of either. It would be perfect if I could find somebody locally who's car I could go and listen to.

Anyway, over to you chaps, can you help?

Yeah, I spoke to the guys at Rogue and apparently Blueflame did used to make Mongoose exhausts but then Mongoose took production back in house because of quality issues and late deliveries etc.
They were really pushing for me to go for the Mongoose over the Blueflame, but I've heard lots of positive reports about the blueflame system.

my friend had a mongoose on his MR2 and it sounded awesome! - But his was a Turbo!

But I also know for a fact that Mogoose build quality is very very good.

Doesnt sound awesome at 70 with a decat. :(

It goes really quiet at 95mph though.

I used to have Mongoose and decat and it was a great combo. Quiet but burbly at low revs around the streets and sporty at high revs. Cruising at legal motorway speeds is a bit boomy though so you might want to break the limit slightly to quieten it down...

Or just keep the cat in place?

If you never do another mod to an MR2 turbo, you *have* to decat it. It's the single best thing I ever did, makes the engine just so much more responsive, more power throughout the entire rev range. The only slight downside is the added noise (but some people really like that anyway)

I could put up with the noise if I didn't have to rely on the car as a daily driver. But if it's droning on the motorway then it's no good, I need to be able to hear my music and comfortably carry a passenger who doesn't have an interest in loud cars!

*Edit*

Mines not a turbo either.

Yeah, thats what happened.
I have a blueflame fitted, were pretty good to me as I went down to their depot to get it fitted up as mine was the first M3Evo they had done. Dead happy with it and nice sound.
