Hi, I’m in the process of buying my first house and the solicitor has asked proof of deposit which his no problem me and my girlfriend have both saved 15k so total 30k deposit.

I’m self employed with 4 years of books but over the 6/7 months I’ve been on a large barn conversation and it’s been all cash and around 65% of my deposit has come from that, the mortgage firm had no problems with the bank statements and I showed them invoices and receipts from the cash payments!

do you think the solicitor will be concerned?

no it's standard for solicitor to ask for proof...as long as you have it it'll be fine

anti money laundering rules

thanks the cash has always been deposited in the bank or post office when received so was not trying to hide anything has I always pay my tax and declare everything.

Well then you'll have an invoice that says settled with cash won't you?
