but now having second thoughts! ... i know its a good budget monitor but what else is available for around £150 that will be better for games and also photo editing/ viewing lightroom and adobe stuff etc? i will be playing games when i have time but i would rather have something to compliment my photo stuff more, 24" is my max and it will need built in speakers

any suggestions before its too late?

You are absolutely screwing yourself if you keep to all your requirements. You can drop the needing speaker requirement and get a decent monitor. Or you can increase the budget. Getting a TN panel monitor for any even semi-serious image work is insane. If you search the internet you will be able to find the following monitors for prices near your range, or under it, but not all of them have speakers:

1. Dell S2415H. Best option and has built-in speakers & is glossy but is either exactly at 150 or above.
2. LG 24MB56HQ-B. A good monitor, much cheaper (around 110, with limited warranty), no speakers & is shipped from Germany only.
3. Dell P2414H. A standless option is available for around 100, is similar to the first Dell but has a matte coating instead.
4. Samsung S24D390HL. Also a good choice, again without speakers but between 140-150 and instead with a PLS panel.

ok point taken, ... i'm not looking for a professional quality photo editing monitor for £150, the requirements I've quoted are based on space, and budget. (no room for big sub woofers and blocky speakers and 24" so will fit into a desktop alcove space).... a general multimedia screen that will cope with games and editing combined is what i need.

as savagesam117 has recommended the ASUS below looks a good compromise
