I have a Q6600 @ 3.2-3.4Ghz (not finalised clocking it yet)
+6 Gb Ram
+Asus P5Q-VM
I don't have a GPU or monitor yet.
I see my choices monitor wise as
GPU wise:
I'm aware I'd be bottlenecking a 7950 but for the $$$ I might get one now and upgrade the CPU to match it later (after 12 months?) I've read that even a 7850 might be slightly faster than the Q6600 even. Game wise I'd be playing slightly older games, but this all might change depending on how hooked I get again! BF4 is an option. Or go cheap on the GPU now and do the GPU+CPU 'properly' next year.
But above that I'm wondering about 120Hz gaming, would a Q6600+7850 really need/warrant a 120Hz display, or is it that a 120Hz display offers benefits across the whole FPS range?
I'd also be doing a lot of browsing and work on it too, which swings me towards a nice bright IPS and 16X10 AR. aka Dell.
A friend mentioned NVidia and LightBoost, this has left me confused, reading the thread people run it on AMD systems anyway, and you still require a 120Hz display for this too?
After writing it all down, I'm 75% sure a Dell=7850 is the way to go for now.
