So after almost a decade i'm getting back into PC gaming and have recently invested in a new rig. I7, GFX 1080 etc which is soon to arrive.
I currently have a 27 inch Apple Cinema Display as i use it for work and connect it to a Macbook Air via a Belkin Thunderbolt dock so i can easily take it out with me when needed.
Im not sure my 60hz Cinema Display will be up to scratch when it comes to gaming and im trying to find a new monitor that balances work/gaming nicely. Ideally something with 100hz, Gsync etc. Im thinking a 34inch ultrawide but im going to wait until the x34P is out before deciding on whether to make the leap.
However, one question i have is what is the most efficient way to connect both my new desktop and MacBook Air to the new monitor. Most seem to have just the one displayport input so i cant use displayport for both Mac and Desktop?
Can you get displayport splitter or will i have to use a displayport to HDMI converter to connect the mac to the new monitor? I will of course need to use displayport on the Desktop for best performance. Ideally it would be nice to use displayport for both.
As the Cinema Display only has 1 Displayport input, i will just have to switch them over manually between Macbook and Desktop as and when required. A pain but i'll make do until the latest 34'' ultrawide's are out.
