Hi my grandson who games mainly shooter games especially Fortnite requires a new monitor, price around 270 pounds. At present he has an AOC cheapish 60hz 1920-1080 and 21 inch monitor.
Now I don't know to much about monitors but he is saying that he requires a higher frequency monitor 144hz or 240hz with quicker refresh rate and input.
I have been looking and reading on here but I am really struggling to understand what would be required, help would be appreciated thank you.

From the sounds of it, your grandson would be best off with a TN panel at the same 1920x1080 resolution in order to maximise his framerates. There's a 24.4" Alienware available for about £270 that has a 240hz screen and this would probably be suitable. Dell aftercare is generally regarded as excellent.

Thanks for your reply, I forgot to say that he has an Nvidia 1070 graphics card.
I believe you are talking about the HF model which is FreeSync.
I have looked on the Nvidia website regarding FreeSync panels that are compatible with Nvidia Graphics cards and this panel is not on there, do you think this could be a problem.

I don't know if it would be a problem. Probably not, but I don't have any direct experience with the Alienware monitor. I will add that high refresh rates significantly reduce tearing with or without adaptive sync, but in this day and age you should definitely make sure that Freesync on this monitor will work with the 1070. If you buy from the rainforest, you can generally return it free of charge if it doesn't work in the manner you require.

Hi thanks again for your reply.
I have already been trying to find about compatibility and on Amazon some people have said it works ok and some have said not compatible, so a bit confused.
Are there any other monitors that you or anyone can recommend please, as I have a grandson on my back at present in to much of a hurry as usual.

I recently looked at the HF model mentioned above, and found a number of reports of it working fine with gsync with the latest drivers. Although it’s not on the list, it seems to be ‘gsync compatible’.

If you check the ‘customer questions’ section on the rainforest it’s spoken about there too.

Hope this helps.

Hi Chris thank you for your reply I will take another look.
I think my grandson has now started looking at the AOC AGON AG 251 FG. Gsync.
