Hello,

I've recently ordered new pc parts which will be a massive upgrade from my current laptop.
Here are the parts:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor (£195.00 @ Computer Orbit)
CPU Cooler: ID-COOLING SE-214-XT ARGB 68.2 CFM CPU Cooler (£18.98 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard (£139.99 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory (£97.55 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: TEAMGROUP MP44L 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (£49.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Video Card: Sapphire PURE Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card (£668.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Case: Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower Case (£59.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Power Supply: Corsair RM850 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£119.00 @ Computer Orbit)

I've been gaming on a 144hz 1080p MSI monitor that I bought a couple years back and I'm ready to upgrade.

However, I can't seem to decide what I'd like to go for.

I've looked at:
I play a good mix of competitive games and single-player games. I was thinking of buying a 4k high refresh monitor so I can play single-player at high refresh rate and downgrade to 1440p when playing competitive. Although I've read that that's not ideal.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hard to say without knowing what hardware you are upgrading to.

If you have the budget for an OLED then go for that, they have not only better colour reproduction but far better motion clarity than IPS/VA LCD panels.
I can vouch for this having got one in the last week, truly brilliant image quality. You'd need to do a bit of tweaking with text in Windows, I find a 115% text scale and a rerun of the clear type text thingy in Windows has been enough for me. Happy enough with how texts looks, games and media look outstanding. I think the 9070xt is strong enough to drive a 1440p monitor at very decent frames.
