Monitor advice would be so appreciated

Hey everyone, hope you're all well and safe in this time!

I've recently invested in a prebuilt rig from overclockers. My previous setup was super old and needed to use a monitor with a vga port (I play games a lot and have suffered for years with low fps and input lag)

I've been looking at monitors with a DP port but while doing research I've found my setup can make use of a monitor with g sync enabled. This then led me to discussions around the choice of monitor is dependent on the strength of PC and I dont want to spend £250 on a monitor that is 'too good' for my PC (Such as a refresh rate of 144hz).

I would love it if someone could provide me with some insight on what would be necessary and not wasted on my rig. Please see my specs below:
