Hello,

I upgraded my pc last year and now I'm after a new monitor. I'm not an expert in anything, just an enthusiast in gaming and photo editing. My initial research found a contradiction in priorities for these aspects so I was focusing on photo monitors but I just started looking at gaming monitors and I've found a couple that seem to meet both needs. So, I'd appreciate any comments on the following or any alternatives.

I have a £500 budget (but started looking at the discounted monitors as I love a bargain), Nvidia 4070 graphics and Intel i7-14700KF processor. I'm looking for a 27" monitor. I don't play fast games - Myst series, Talos Principle, The Room, old Doom. I use Lightroom and Photoshop. Also use for office purposes and generally wasting time online.

MSI 27" MPG 274URF QD £298.99

This seems better for colour gamut coverage as the Asus doesn't mention Adobe RGB.

ASUS 27" Rog Strix XG27UCS IPS £338.99

This seems better as it is NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible but other research suggests AMD Freesync monitors work with Nvidia GPUs so maybe a moot point.

TIA

I've mentioned once or twice recently, but the Philips monitors have had positive comments in reviews about their colour pre-calibration from factory. So if colour is important to you for photo editing work, I'd perhaps recommend looking into some of their range instead of the cheaper MSI/Asus gaming monitors.

If you'd like OLED, then the Philips 27" QD OLED is currently on offer at OCUK for just £499.

Appears to be a review here if it helps - https://www.tomshardware.com/monitors/gaming-monitors/philips-evnia-27m2n8500-360-hz-qd-oled-review

Thanks, I'll have a look, however, I was reading a long post yesterday about OLED monitors and the risk of burn in. I think the conclusion was it isn't a current issue but I wasn't certain so decided it a) I'd rather not risk it considering a need to work from home with static office apps for 8-10 hours a day and b) isn't a priority for me if I can get good quality IPS.
