Hey all,

Sorry, didn't know which section to put this in. Am wanting a monitor which acts as both a computer screen and tv. I know most monitors have all the relevant input connections to make this happen so it's not hard but I need to make sure I can quickly change over between computer use and tv. So I think my options are limited to this - correct me if I'm wrong:

1) Simply connect the SKY (i.e. satellite) cables to my monitor and flick between inputs (i.e. change from DVI to S-video or something) when I need change between TV and computer.

2) Invest in a tv card for the computer which supports satellite input (Sky). And then use software to play tv while in windows.

3) Do the same as two but invest in Windows Media Centre. Now I'm not too clued up on WMC but does it still allow you to use regular windows programs like word and stuff? Excuse my naiivity! I know in Vista you'll be able to do this.

Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!

you can actualy...

you can get a dvi to tv i think my old gfx card had tv out and when i put it on hte tv it was on av and when i wanted to watch telly i just changed channel

i think some dell monitors have composite imputs which would allow u to plug it a sky box (i think). also a friend of mine has a monitor that has scart inputs on it, although it came from hong kong and i dont know the make of it.

If you use a lot of convertors you can convert SCART from the sky box to RCA, then RCA to s-video which you could feed into your graphics card and output on the monitor. Seems like a pain in the butt tho

i've got an LG FLATRON m1917A. 19" monitor, has arial input and 2 scart inputs. I think that it works really well and have no complaints about it at all, using it equally to watch TV, and play on my computer

You can use a Trust Combi PC-TV Pop to connect a video source to any old monitor with a VGA input. Or get a LCD-TV that has VGA/DVI and SCART input. OCUK has a nifty looking 26" on sale now.
