Hey, not sure if this should really come under another category, basically i have an ati 5870. which supports dvi etc but also HDMI

I would like to have my speakers plugged into the PC and the monitor in the graphics and also have the HDMi plugged into the TV and just be able to switch between the two for watching films on the big screen etc

However i'm aware that HDMI also handles audio so my question really is, will it just constantly conflict which devide (speakers or tv) should be handling sound? or is there a simple setting in the catalyst suite which would let me flick between the two?

Thanks

Think you can use the audio options to set it for HDMI/PC (in windows 7 right click the Speaker icon in task bar and select audio output device).

You can leave the 'speakers' as 'default device' in sound properties and you could configure media player classic so that it sets the audio to playback to 'ATI hdmi output'. This way only the sound of the movie comes through your tv while you can listen to music/ play games etc through the pc speakers.

Thanks tommy, i think this is pretty much the setup im after, i use the PC for games and would want that ot stay normal. then when playing a film just flick the sound over to the HDMI output
