Hi guys, I'm interested in grabbing a monitor arm for my two 24" benq' monitors, the only thing that has stopped me so far is knowing if they are compatible with my desk A Ikea MICKE - http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40244850/

The back part of the desk is quite tall so not sure if it will be able to accommodate a monitor arm as it is my understanding they attach by clamping to the back of the desk?

Any advice would be great thanks :)

Hey, ive also been looking to invest in a dual monitor arm.

ive been looking at - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-003-SV&groupid=17&catid=1992

and as you can see it says
- Support desktop thickness: 8mm (0.32”)~ 50mm (1.96”)

and looking at your desk its quite clear that, its over that, however maybe you could mod the desk, by cutting a hole in the "back panel" as i would guess the actual desk top, would fit inside the above range.

ofc you would need to measure to check before you start cutting holes.

also im no expert on desk mods xD but i dont think it would cause any issues, other than maybe looking a bit tatty, but its out of sight anyways if the desk is against a wall.

anyways just an idea, if you brake your desk im not to blame :)

also i noted that - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-003-AR&groupid=17&catid=1992

has a smaller clamp fitting maybe it could be mounted inside of the cable management hole

I have an Allcam GSD110. Various different single and multi-monitor models available on their official site and also decent build quality at decent prices. I love mine to bits!

Rather than use the back of the desk, I'd look at using that cable hole and putting the clamp in through there. Should still leave enough room for cables, if you so need.

I have an Ergotron MX and you can certainly use the cable hole built into the desk to get the clamp through and have room to get cables in there as well.

The Ergotron clamp is quite big compared to some others out there so I can't imagine other arms having any difficulty here as long as they allow for the option to clamp through a desk and not just the edge which would indicate a fixed clamp that "might" not fit through the hole.
