Is anyone here good with troubleshooting and repairing subs, that could potentially point me in the right direction on trying to fix this sub?
I am handy with a soldering iron and troubleshooting, just never done anything with a amped sub.

I have a monitor audio sub, which is probably about 12 years old now.

I noticed a little while ago that it wasn't making any sound, so I adjusted some settings on my Denon amp and it started working again, but after a few minutes I was getting a constant loud hiss from it, but still had the sound, so I just turned it off.

A few days ago I had a little bit of time so thought I'd have another go, this time the hiss is gone, but the sub is just thumping every couple of seconds, and you can hear the audio very quietly in the background.

I haven't got a spare audio cable to test it's that, although the one that's currently in it is only a year or so old and quite expensive. It runs under the floor too. But I'll order one to test.

Is it likely to be a capacitor gone? Is there anything else to look at while taking it apart?
