Just had a tft monitor break on me, which was preceded by a sort of paint like burning smell.
-Basically my question here is if anyone knows what its likely to be, like if there are any common failures of monitors fitting the above. I guessed it might be a capacitor but I do not know enough about electrics to know if thats the case.
-The reason I ask is I am wondering if its likely to be fixable within a decent cost or whether it would be cheaper on the whole to just buy a new monitor.
-Also the monitor in question is just over 4 years old, and I was wondering is it likely to be covered under the Sale of Goods Act to do with the reasonable working life clause, as I figure its probably borderline on this area. If its likely I could get it fixed or replaced by the retailer then I would do this (its not an Ocuk purchased Monitor so don't worry about a claim there ).
).
Thanks for any help
