Monitor built-in speakers!!

Hi guys

I have an old monitor which is connected to my pc via DVI connection. It doesn't have HDMI port although does have built-in speakers.

If I want to output sound through the monitor, would I need hdmi to dvi converter?

It also has audio in jack (green colour).

I went to playback devices and for monitor built in speakers, it says 'AMD HDMI output not plugged in'. My graphics card is 5850

I don't think DVI carries sound, I could be wrong. I am using a 3.5mm cable connected to my motherboard to get sound to my monitor.

You would need to use the Audio in Jack as DVI doesn't carry audio.

yep, use the green audio cable with the dvi/hdmi cable
