Hi all,

Put my new HIS IceQ Turbo 7950 in my computer the other night and what a jump in performance from my crossfired 6770's! Unfortunately I've noticed a really loud (on SimCity mainly) buzzing coming from my monitor accompanied by what looks like lines flickering on the bottom half of the screen?

The buzz is definitely from the monitor and changing to different resolutions brings a different pitch of buzz!

Has my monitor had its day? is a pretty old HP2309v with VGA input and I'm using a DVI-VGA connector to get it working.

It seems like a big coincidence that, the monitor just starts to make a noise when you install a new GPU.

It'd be interesting to see whether the monitor makes a noise with your old card(s) back in...

I had a monitor which buzzed in games too

it was a cheap brand that must have had a bad capacitor on the controller board in the monitor as it would buzz in games, in photoshop, etc

if there was an input that bypassed that controller board the the buzzing would stop but that monitor only had vga or dvi - both would buzz

in short, the monitor is not "fubar", it works fine - its just like having capacitor whine in the psu or gpu :)
