Monitor cable maximum length ?

What would be the maximum length I could use for an analogue (D-SUB) monitor cable without losing picture quality ? I suppose the quality of the cable will play some part in this ?

yeah i did google but various lengths mentioned.... i thought somebody may know from using a long cable themselves..... cheers

probably no more than 10 metres..... will be pumping the signal to an LCD TV, hopefully at 1920 x 1080....
