Monitor Calibration - Hell!

Hi again,

I am trying to callobrate my monitor so I have a near enough representation of actual prints. I just did the Adobe Gamma Loader calibration wizard and loaded some pictures of my baby girl up. Now, when I assign the Adobe 1998 RGB profile to the image it produces a massive amount of contrast compared to the imbedded sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile. This is driving me mad becasue I am getting very worried about the actual prints I have ordered being completely messed up. Can you guys please help a new digi photographer calibrate his monitor?

Cheers

King.

Right, the prints have come back slightly over exsposed and saturated compared to how I saw them on my monitor

Luckily they were free. However, I need to get this fixed for future prints. Is there a way to get this working with your help guys?

Cheers,

King.

These ones I got from J*****s online (as they offer 10 free prints when you sign up).

EDIT: Cheers, forgot about that.

Appreciate your pointers.

I am going to run the same prints off at Photobox and see what comes out. I have configured my monitor according to their jpeg and applied all the prints with the sRGB profile.

Fingers crossed.

Righty, the prints arrived this morning (only ordered yesterday!) and they are superb. Not at all saturated/over bright (little les colorful) compared to the ones from J*****s. Thanks for recomending Photobox! Much appreciated!
