Hey Guys!

Was browsing Ars Technica this morning and came across this - Simple Monitor Calibration - It made a real difference in my opinion even though it's only a slight shift!

By the way i'm on an ACD - I'd like to hear if this makes a difference on non-Apple monitors!

Enjoy!

Interesting read...

It's funny how I started out on a PC in windows - always used a CRT and when I moved to using my MacBook, I found the colouring really weird. Now that I got used to it (didn't get around to calibrating it, been using ColourLCD scheme since) whenever I use any windows CRT system, I find the colouring much darker and feels "uglier".

Especially photos.

I look at photos on my Mac, edit it abit with iphoto and print. Looks amazing. I go around mate's house and look at it from their screen, it looks darker and "redder", especially edits that i load up on to my blogsite.

The industry needs to have a set colour management, that's for sure.

They do, it's pretty much just the Mac that uses 1.8 gamma. All displays need some sort of calibration, and it needs re-doing every few months or so if you are a bit of a photography geek.

I'm really not sure why Apple continue on with the 1.8 gamma, especially when one of the big uses of Macs is in the design and photography industry.

Colour management in general though is a massive topic, and far far too boring for most people to be bothered about :)
