Monitor Calibration

Yesterday i received my new 2007WFP and i'm very happy with it so far. I'm just wondering how much of a difference it would make if i were to calibrate it properly with a hardware calibration tool? My girlfriend works as a digital artist for a portrait company and does a lot of work in photoshop. She says they have a few spyder calibration tools lying around and might be able to 'borrow' one for me to use. Would it be worth it? Thanks

If you're doing graphic work where color reproduction is important and the tools to do the correction are at hand I see no reason why not do do it.

I'll be doing a bit of photoshop work. Nothing over-excessive but maybe a bit in my spare time. I take it i'd need to re-calibrate if i were to format?
