Hi guys,

Looking at picking up a monitor calibrator for the first time.

I've narrowed it down to either:

X-Rite ColorMunki Display
or
Spyder4 PRO Advanced

Both can be had for around £120 and seem to offer very similar features

Does anyone have any experience of these two products to provide a recommendation?

Cheers

never personally found the Spyder devices that great. a Lot of inter-instrument variation and ive never been that pleased with the results. The X-rite devices tend to be better in my experience, so the ColorMunki (or i1 Display Pro also worth a look!) would be better imo

Me had better experiences with Spyder, am using a Spyder4Pro myself.

At the end these devices vary in price and minimally in accuracy. All of them to the job well enough for photographer's / graphic designer's use.

For best price I would suggest you the Spyder4Pro, for high accuracy the Spyder4Elite or the i1 Display Pro.

Don't get the ColorMunki Smile or the Spyder4Express, they don't measure the ambient light and therefore the contrast won't be calibrated correctly, only the colours.
