1080 vs 1440 at 144hz monitor choice?
Hello everyone.

I currently have a 27" AOC 4k 60hz monitor and i have been having many in game issues with fps drops and stuttery gameplay and have had enough as i don't feel 4k is worth it for gaming. I am looking to move to a 27" 144hz monitor however i am unsure weather to go 1080p or 1440p.

The main questions i have are.
1. Is 1440p 144hz worth the extra cost for the resolution jump and does it run smooth.
2. Is it worth getting a g-sync monitor or just normal 144hz.
3. Any reccomendations on monitors currently avaliable on the market.
4. Any recommended sites or places to sell the old monitor once replacement is purchased.
My pc spec is:
Asrock extreme 6 motherboard.
20gb ddr3 ram.
Intel I5 4690k.
2x gtx 980ti in sli.
1000w power supply.

Thanks in advance.

With two 980ti you have a fast system.
You can take advantage of 1440 and 144hz,supposed to be very good.
Gsync is a bit expensive but would take it for a fair price.

There aren't many of these screens available and they are pretty expensive. Some also have quality control issues.

Good luck.
Will make gaming much better than 1080p IMHO.

Yeah the bottom one is the TN panel version, I would get that as its brilliant. The Rog Swift monitors are superb mate. As for the Dell I am the wrong person to answer that one, I personally won't touch anything made by Dell but that's just me.

Which games are you playing? I have two Maxwell Titan X cards in SLI and haven't had any problems at 4K. I had to turn down Hairworks in The Witcher.

Yeah i have always associated dell with potato quality machines and monitors.
Noob question but whats the difference in TM and IPS monitors?

IPS panels offer much better colour reduction and better viewing angles. I went from the Rog Swift 1440p TN to the IPS and still have both panels and the IPS panel was well worth it. I currently use the TN on my old system and it is still a cracking monitor for gaming. I have these 2 monitors, worth a watch this mate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79r5rxS276Y

I have that dell monitor,
I tweaked the colours a bit to get a slightly darker image as the standard settings are a bit washed out,
But the build quality is fantastic, especially the stand.

1440 144hz, you won't feel the drop in res too much, I tried a UHD monitor back when they first came out and hated TN so went back to my then 1440p 60hz monitor, the drop in res didn't really bother me although you are use to UHD now so might affect you more, go to 144hz and that will fix that problem :D

I have the Dell mentioned and as someone else said the build quality is great, as is my overall impression. Out of the box the colours are a bit washed out but using a custom colour profile it looks fantastic, not quite as good but pretty damn close to my previous IPS IMO. For gaming the high refresh rate, response time and G Sync are godly :)
