Will be looking at getting a new monitor in the next couple of weeks, and with all the different options now available, I'm spoilt for choice.
I'm struggling to decide between the following options:
My PC spec is:
i5-2500
16GB Geil Evo Leggera
GTX 750ti OC
I'm not sure if it will be powerful enough to make the most of either the 1920x1080 @ 144Hz or the 2560x1080 without having to sacrifice some graphics quality; from what I've researched, there's a ~30% fps hit on the 21:9 over 16:9?
In terms of the 144Hz monitor, would I be correct in thinking that there's absolutely no point in this unless my FPS is higher than whatever the standard 24" refresh rate is? (e.g. 60-70). For 3D content, would this basically be a 50% hit on the FPS (i.e. 2 "frames" per frame, one for each eye?)? Again, concerns over the power of the machine being up to it.
Finally, for the 27" - obviously the pixels are going to be bigger, but from others' experience, how obvious do they become? Is it going to annoy me that the picture looks a bit pixellated?
Edit: for reference, I currently use 2x BenQ GL2450 monitors at work, and these are sufficient, but obviously "bigger is better"... right?
Any thoughts on my concerns?
Here are the monitors I've been looking at for each option, any other suggestions welcome, budget ideally is £200, but if it's worth going for the 21:9 I will consider holding off for a month or so to stretch it
