Monitor choice help please?

I'm looking to upgrade from my 1:1 aspect ratio VGA monitor to something better, I was wondering what's better, HDMI, DVI or VGA, and what cable I need. At the moment my PC has a HDMI slot and a DVI slot (I'm using a VGA to DVI converter) Please help

That BenQ VA panel is very nice, I have the 27" version, this one, out the box it looked terrible but I found this review for the 24" and this review for my 27". Once set up properly these BenQ va panels look great. That is a great price for the 22" version though.
