Now i finally have some money, i want to buy a new monitor as my current 1440x900 19inch is covered in crap and i want something better, and in the future i will get a new GPU and CPU.

My choices are either:

20 inch ocuk 1680x1050

22 inch belinea monitor

24 inch ocuk value or Acer 24inch value.

I plan on doing a lot of gaming and generall use, i know my 640mb GTS wont max out the latest game at the 24inch, so i would have to scale it back to 1680x1050.

Games im playing atm are mainly CoD4, and a bit of UT3.

What would you go for with my specs?

I'd say go for the 24" and imo it "will" max out all the latest games (or near enough) minus crysis (obviously!). I had a similar spec'd pc to yours when i first installed unreal 3 etc and it was 60fps solid.

the 8800gts 640mb is still a v good card :)

Just go for biggest screen possible for the best overall experience :D

Hmmm i've got call of duty on mine but i recently upgraded to an 8800gt (i got £40 or so back from selling at right time and a marginally faster card than what you have now but nothing major).

I'd say you could get very high frame rates as long as anti-aliasing isn't on and at 1920x1200 its still going to look fantastic tbh.

On my E6600 @ 3.2ghz + 8800gt (which is only marginally better than the old GTS lets be honest:)) i can get pretty much solid 60fps @ 1920x1200 max everything but with no AA.

thanks :), im not too bothered about no aa, as like you said at high res like that its not really needed.

Now to decide which monitor, as the acer one is very cheap noow at £205, so i could go for that, but the ocuk one is ment to be much better.

I could be wrong here but http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-031-AC doesn't seem to have a DVI input.

I LOVE the DGM OCUK monitor. I have stated numerous times I am using it with a Dell 2007Wide and I prefer the OCUK one by quite a margin (the dell looks a bit nicer though in terms of the case).

Overall I think its the best value monitor out there currently :)

Do you use DVI over VGA then with 24inch monitors? Do they come with the dvi cables etc?

Heck yes.

Sometimes the monitor does a good job of making a VGA signal look good, but DVI is always nicer.

Besides the OCUK monitor is nicer specced - and, more so because you can switch between VGA and DVI easily it is perfect if you are a 360 owner or if you have 2 PC's (for example a server box or something).

The extra the DGM OCUK costs is small too, so well worth the extra price in my oppion.

Afaik it shouldnt make much difference whether its vga or dvi?

Seems the ocuk one is the flavour of the month atm at a crazy good price.

Personally i'd go for the ocuk over the acer. Didn't the acer have reliability issues?
