I'm looking at a new monitor but OLED is out of my price range.

How much better is the AOC for black trails compared to mine

As that's the only issue I have with the VA, trails on certain dark scenes

It's just the nature of the tech, unfortunately. More recent VA panels are definitely better at dealing with the the black smearing but if you're sensitive to it then you'll always notice it to some degree.

That AOC monitor is much improved compared to your Samsung one though, so you'd definitely have some improvement.

Are mini LED IPS monitors out of your price range? Do you definitely want 1440p?

KTC are selling (on the rainforest) a 4k mini-LED 160hz (dual mode, with 1080p 320hz) 27" monitor - with 1152 backlight zones for under 325 quid. Genuinely an insanely good price for what you're getting with that monitor (M27P6 is the model name).

MSI have also got a 300hz 1440p Fast VA monitor with a mini-LED backlight, again with with 1152-zones - although it has the worst monitor name as is tradition with MSI. The... MAG 274QPF X30MV.
