Monitor connection question

Hi,

I currently have a 17" Fujitsu Siemens TFT monitor that only has the VGA connector on it. Im planning on building a new rig and wondered if the newer gfx cards work with this as they all have those DVI/HD? connectors on them.

think I have answered my own question here...found a DVI to VGA convertor cable for £5.95.

Says -

Connect a DVI monitor to a VGA port
Connect a VGA monitor to a DVI port

Is there a downside to doing this ?
