I've had my GTX 980 ti for a few weeks now and loving it and I want to treat myself to a new monitor. I've read through a lot of similar posts lately with people looking for the same thing.

At the moment I have an LG 27MP65 IPS screen which I love especially since it has thin bezels around the sides and top. I did have a 2nd one but it met with an unfortunate accident and I couldn't find somewhere that might be able to fix it and I couldn't seem to find another one that wasn't about twice what I paid for it.

I've been debating what features I would prefer (I mostly just game on my machine, don't need to do any fancy graphics work or anything). I like having a 27" screen and would like something larger than 1920x1080 but looking at 4k the decent monitors are quite pricey so I thought maybe 1440p might be better. But then there's such options as 144Hz and G-Sync which would be nice to have as well but also bump up the price.

Some monitors I have been looking at lately are:-

AOC G2460PG 24" - Smaller monitor but offers G-Sync and 144Hz
Acer Predator XB240H - Again 24" also offering G-Sync and 144Hz
AOC G2770PQU - 27" monitor with 144Hz but no G-Sync
Acer 4k2k B286HK - 28" monitor with a lot of screen real estate but not much else so not sure about this one.

There are also a couple around the £350 area i've looked at as at the moment I think that might be around where I want to pay currently for a monitor but if there was something close to those that are better I might be tempted to pay a bit more. Are there any other monitors I should consider? Monitors is not a lot of something I have bought before.

I briefly considered 3D as an option but it would probably just give me a headache :)

I want to upgrade myself but I feel that in the next year or two we are going to see UHD monitors take off with die shrinks on GPU'. It is either 1440p 144hz or UHD though really if you want to upgrade. Superwide might be nice if you multitask a lot though, saying this because you use to have two monitors.

I have considered the superwide monitors but haven't seen one working in the flesh so to speak so not sure how good they are good for gaming. Do games play well on them generally? Does the game have to support the resolution?

Most games support ultrawide now and the ones that don't can always play 16:9 instead of 21:9 on it, you'd just have black bars on a few titles. Might be worth asking on another thread if you are interested as there are guys on here that do own and game on those types of screen.

Personally, the market seems to be hotting up quite a lot and I'd expect the offerings/value to improve over the next few months.

Acer and Asus are the ones to watch ATM, but there's more going on with manufacturers now than there has been in years.

Not sure but personally for me 27" is the largest I would probably look to be going due to limited desk space :)

you need to try and see one in the flesh, it might not be for everyone but for me gaming on 34" 21.9 is the mutts nuts

It's quite difficult up here in the frozen wastelands of Scotland. Only PC shops near me is a PC World which has rubbish stock really and mostly just standard monitors and a small PC shop which again has very limited stock.

I have seen superwide, Maybe its just me what Im used to, but triples still would be my thing. your get a better wrap around experience and you dont notice the bezels in gaming your brain tunes it out.

yep i ran eyefinity for a while but i found it just too wide and didnt look at the side screens that much, also the outer edges looked a bit too stretched for my liking.

i think if i were to do a triple screen set up again i would go with 3 16.10 ratio screens instead of 16.9 for more height

I am in same dilemma - I just bought a 980TI and was using a 27" Monitor (had to give it back) and back to my 24" monitor (1080p)

I don't know what I should do - nysnc, ultrawide, ips, lag - reading about the Acers and Asus models seems that I should stay away but isn't there always people with bad experiences or being super fussy... I know when I bought my original 24" there was negative comments on it....

What would people suggest? I do like the idea of nysnc but not sure how useful it would be and I don't want an ultrawide and feel its poor pic quality or laggy
