So my new MSI R390x arrived today, woop, however ive a monitor issue, booo.

The monitor in question is a Samsung s27d590s, it has VGA, HDMI and display port connections.

the monitor was running fine over VGA on my old graphics card and still does.

however when i install the new graphics card (390x) the monitor does not receive a signal and goes into sleep mode, unfortunately the new GPU doesnt have a VGA slot, it only has HDMI, D-DVI and Display Port, ive tried both display port and hdmi and nothing, the computer boots fine into windows (i can hear the windows login sound) so i know the GPU is fine, it just doesnt seem to be sending a signal down the cable to the monitor.

using the monitor settings i have manually selected both HDMI and display port to PC mode but still no display.

this is really frustrating, and i cant seem to find any definitive solutions.

anyone got any idea how to enable the display port for the new GPU??

nope, nothing.

it boots into windows, i can hear the login sound coming out the speakers when it does, i just cant see anything.

Are you running the latest bios on your motherboard? It might need updating to use the latest cards.

Posting your full specs would be a good idea as well. Someone else with a similar setup might be able to point you in the right direction.

ok sorted it, turns out that the 6pin pci-e connector had a faulty pin, i.e. no connected in the female end, replaced the cable and now all is good. boots up as expected.
