Monitor flicking on briefly, then flickering off

Heya folks, more PC woes -.- (Less than 2 weeks after my graphics card needed replacing, now my monitor is playing up)
Basically, after being switched off for a couple of hours, I switched it back on, and it flickered on for a split second, then flickers off for about 8 seconds, and keeps doing that. What the hell is wrong with it?

Have you tried a different DVI cable? Ensured the power cable is pressed in fully?

Yep, tried both. Tried connecting VGA cable to my laptop as well, it only does the flickering faster with my laptop =/

It isn't trying to set a weird refresh rate or something is it?

What kind of monitor is it? If it's a TFT, they have fluorescent backlights, and I guess that these can eventually need replacing (although none of mine have gone yet).

it's a Samsung Syncmaster 205BW, TFT. How do i replace this backlight, and how much will it set me back?
