Monitor 'Focus' Problem

Hey,

Hope someone has seen something like the following screenies? This is an HP DV9700 17" laptop. The monitor is perfect most of the time but sometimes not when doing anything in particular it does what shown in the photos and I have to restart it to fix.

I'd like to know whether I need to buy a new screen or not, I dont want to shell out £60 and find out its something else so anyone input is most welcome.

no its just dust on the screen due to the flash, your meant to be looking at how the text is being displayed, almost out of focus.

in the last pic you can see almost vertical lines, thats what its like over the whole screen, a change in resolution doesnt make any difference, I have to restart the computer.
